    Cover Boards Eliminated with SecureTherm™
DENVER, CO — ACH Foam Technologies announced its SecureTherm™ Composite Roof Insulation eliminates the need for cover boards in roof applications. SecureTherm™ is a high performance, light weight and water resistant expanded polystyrene (EPS) roof insulation with a factory applied durable fiberglass facer to meet UL Class A requirements.

“SecureTherm offers stable R-values with the added benefit of lower installation costs,” said Frank Kiesecker, Senior VP or Sales & Marketing. Because the facer is factory applied to the EPS insulation, there is no need for a coverboard in membrane applications.

For example, Peters Roofing installed 160,000 square feet of SecureTherm on a metal roof deck of the Patterson Dental building in Dinuba, CA in the summer of 2008.

Patterson had increased their roof insulation specification from R-30 to R-38 to make the building more energy-efficient so that they could receive a rebate from Pacific Gas & Electric. The roofing contractor saved significantly in labor costs by using SecureTherm.

According to Jim Nelson of Peters Roofing, the change from R-30 to the specified R-38 made ployisocyanurate too expensive for the project. “We chose SecureTherm because it met the R-38 specification, and brought the project’s budget back on track,” explained Nelson. “The two layer system consisting of 8 inch thick Type I EPS and a 1 inch thick Type IX SecureTherm cap was mechanically fastened to a metal roof deck beneath a PVC membrane.”

ACH Foam’s SecureTherm™ Composite Roof Insulation is the preferred roofing solution among architects and contractors for low-sloped applications employing all mechanically fastened or ballasted single ply and modified bitumen systems. SecureTherm has a stable R-Value and is available in a variety of thicknesses to meet virtually any R-value.

Evaluations conducted by ICC-ES, combined with ACH's strict manufacturing specifications and quality control, ensures that ACH customers receive a consistently superior product. SecureTherm meets and exceeds requirements of ASTM C578. Made of environmentally friendly EPS, SecureTherm contains no ozone depleting agents, is made with recycled material and is recommended as a component in LEED certified projects. SecureTherm comes with a 20 year R-Value warranty.
